Louise Guðfinna Jónsdóttir was born in Mountain, N. Dakota on October 10, 1884. She had the name Louise G. Thorlakson and later Gislason in the west.
Spouse: July 20, 1916 Þorsteinn Jónsson b.in Skagafjarðarsýsla on May 11, 1874, d. in Manitoba on July 19, 1955. He took the name Thorsteinn J. Gislason in the west.
Children: Foster son: Lárus Sigurður Fjelsted b. January 23, 1924.
Louise was the daughter of Jón Þorláksson and Petrína Guðnadóttir who lived southwest of Mountain, N. Dakota. After the turn of the century, they moved north to Brown, Manitoba. Þorsteinn came west in 1883 with his parents, Jón Gíslason and Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir. They arrived in New York and went directly to Winnipeg and then to Pembina County in N. Dakota. They settled southeast of Hallson. After Jón’s death in 1893, Sæunn continued to farm the lanc, but in 1899 she moved with the children to Brown, Manitoba. Þorsteinn studied commerce in Grand Forks and bought a store in Brown in 1909 and ran it until 1927 while farming at the same time. Louise was given an opportunity for education; she completed her music degree at St. Peter, Minnesota, and a three-year nursing degree in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1913. She was the organist of the Guðbrands Church in Brown, taught piano, and worked as a nurse.
