Date of birth : 1847
Place of birth : V. Skaftafellssýsla
Date of death : 1921-22

Margrét Aradóttir was born in 1847 in W. Skaftafellssýsla. She died in 1921 or 1922 in Gimli, Manitoba.

Spouse: Guðmundur Bergþórsson b. in Borgarfjarðarsýsla on March 5, 1844, d. May 10, 1924 in Winnipeg.

Children: 1. Kristján Guðmundur b. June 22, 1876 2. Halldóra Guðný b. 1878 3. Elín b. June 10, 1882 4. Ari b. December 8, 1886 in Mikley.

Guðmundur moved from Sauðárkrókur west to Manitoba in 1884 and moved with his family to the Fljóts Settlement.  A year later they moved to Mikley, but lived there for a short time because they had returned to the Fljóts Settlement in 1886, and a year later they settled in Selkirk. The search continued for the dream place because in the next few years they were in Brandon, Baldur, and probably also in the Geysir Settlement. From there they went to Winnipeg and stayed there until 1903, but that year they moved to Vancouver where their son Kristján had settled with his family. They stayed there for 2-3 years, then went back to Winnipeg where they lived until 1915, but then they went to Bethel in Gimli.
