Margrét Guðmundsdóttir was born in Dalasýsla on February 9, 1859. She died on August 19, 1916 in Duluth.

They came west to America in 1887 and settled in Duluth, Minnesota before 1881. The Minnesota Census of 1895 says they had been living in the community for six years. Þorleifur, Margrét’s brother came west possibly moved west a bit before; he lived in Duluth and that may have influenced Kristinn and Margrét’s decision to move there. Kristinn opened a dairy in Duluth and is listed as the manager in the 1910 Census; he is listed as Chris Gunderson. In the 1930 census, he is listed as living with his son Björn.
