Guðbjörg was the daughter of Jón Ívarsson who came west in 1874. She and Pétur moved to Nova Scotia in 1876, first living in Lockeport, but then settling at Hjarðarholt in Markland. They moved west from there to Winnipeg in 1880 and then settled in the town of Beaulieu, west of Hallson, N. Dakota in 1882. In 1913, they sold their property and moved west to the Pacific, settling in Blaine and living there the rest of their lives.
