Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir was born in Húnavatnssýsla in 1856. She died on April 15, 1953 in Duluth. She took the name Sarah Nordal in the west.

They came west with little Jónas to Winnipeg in 1887. Life’s road led them south to Duluth, Minnesota where they lived the rest of their lives. Guðmundur worked at a dairy farm the first years, but later was the head groundskeeper at the Forest Hill Cemetery where Kristján Jónsson from Sveinatunga had been the manager for many years.
