Elín Þórhildur Magnúsdóttir was born on August 9, 1872 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died on May 22, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She took the name Ellen Thorhildur Bjering in the west.
Spouse: Hans Friðrik Bjering b. in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on October 7, 1873, d. in Minneapolis on August 29, 1932. He took the name Fred Bjering in the west.

Hans came west in 1879 with his parents, Hans Bjering and Friðrika Jónsdóttir, and siblings. They first went to Duluth, Minnesota. Elín came west with her mother, Vilhelmína Bjering, in 1885. Elín and Hans were cousins. They must have lived in Wisconsin, but went from there to Duluth. They were there only a short time, because Reverend Níels Steingrímur Þorláksson baptized their first child in Minneapolis in 1895 and they lived there ever after.
