Nikulás Þórarinsson was born in S. Múlasýsla on March 17, 1859. He died in Lundar on December 17, 1931. He took the name Snædal (Snidal) in the west.
Spouse: 1) Ragnhildur Einarsdóttir b. 1862 in N. Múlasýsla 2) Kristín Erlendsdóttir b. in Árnessýsla in 1860, d. 1942

Nikulás came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883. With him was his mother, Jóhanna Nikulásdóttir. Also with them was the boy Þórarinn Sigbjörnsson. In 1891, as a married man, Nikulás took land in the Lundar Settlement and lived there until Ragnhildur died. He then moved north to Lake Manitoba and settled on a point of land called Bluff, where the Reykjavík Post Office was. There he also bought land and prospered for several years. He then sold it and moved to Lundar.
