Eiríkur was the son of Sveinn Eiríksson and Guðrún Halldórsdóttir, early pioneers in the Hallson Settlement in 1886. Regína’s parents were Þórður Helgason and Halldóra Geirsdóttir who lived at Laufás in New Iceland. Eiríkur and Regína lived in Winnipeg until 1932, then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Eiríkur built houses in both Winnipeg and Minneapolis.
