Brynhildur Steinunn Erlendsdóttir was born on October 23, 1893 in Húnavatnssýsla. She died on September 15, 1961 in Seattle, Washington.

Brynhildur came west to Winnipeg with her mother, Ingibjörg Kristmundsdóttir, and younger sister in 1898. Her father, Erlendur Guðmundsson, came there a year later, She lived there until 1917, then moved west to Seattle. Þorbjörn studied carpentry at a young age in Reykjavík and was considered a gifted professional. He sailed to Copenhagen in 1897 to learn more, and from there went to Germany. He studied house drawing and continued his studies there, then moved to Switzerland in 1909. He came west across the ocean in 1910 and went to Winnipeg where he stayed for some time before settling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1918 he lived in Seattle, which became his and Brynhildur’s future home.
