Sigrún was the daughter of Jóhannes Þorleifsson and Guðrún Björnsdóttir. She came west to Winnipeg in 1905 and worked in the city for a few years. She was then hired as a maid for Jón and Soffía Líndal in Lundar, married, and lived there the rest of her life. Jón came west by sea with his parents, Björn Jónsson and Guðrún Pálsdóttir, in 1888 and was with them in the Lundar Settlement.
