Ingunn Sigurgeirsdóttir was born on May 8, 1873 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla.

Ingunn came west in 1887 with her brother Halldór and his family. She worked for many years in Winnipeg before she married. Runólfur came west to Manitoba in 1883 with his parents, Marteinn Jónsson and Guðrún Jónsdóttir. He completed primary school and then studied theology. He was ordained as a pastor on May 7, 1899 and served several congregations in New Iceland for many years. They moved west to the Pacific, lived in British Columbia and Washington, but then moved back to Winnipeg and lived there.
