Magnús Davíðsson was born on May 30, 1862 in Húnavatnssýsla. He died in N. Dakota on October 27, 1949. He took the name Magnus Davidsson in the west.

Magnús came west to Canada in 1876 with his parents, Davíð Jónsson and Þórdís Guðmundsdóttir, who had come to New Iceland. From there, the road took them to the Eyford Settlement in N. Dakota. Magnús was a farmer in Montrose Township in Cavalier County until 1920, moved from there to the Garðar Settlement, and later lived in Edinburg. Guðrún Hjálmarsdóttir was the daughter of Hjálmar Friðriksson and Metta Pálsdóttir who came west from Barðastrandarsýsla in 1886.
