Jónína Sigríður Einarsdóttir was born in 1852 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in the Garðar Settlement on August 16, 1919.
Spouse: Jakob Ásmundur Kristjánsson b. January 8, 1856 in S. Múlasýsla, d. in the Hnausa Settlement in New Iceland on July 6, 1941. He took the last name Freeman in the west.
Children: 1. Geirfríður (Geira) b. March 12, 1881 2. Einar b. 1885, drowned in the Red River in 1885 3. Guðlaug b. 1890 4. Björg (Bertha) b. September 6, 1892 5. Sigurrós b. 1897. Jónína had a son, Björn Kristinn Sigvaldason b. December 26, 1874. Jakob raised him as his own and Björn also took the last name Freeman, Barney Freeman in the west.
Jónína came west in 1880 with her son Björn Kristinn and they lived in Winnipeg. Jakob and Jónína lived there the first years, they moved from there to Selkirk, and later to Keewatin, Ontario. They moved back to Selkirk but by the turn of the century, they were living in Grafton, N. Dakota. Jakob came west to Manitoba in 1876 and settled in the Hnausa Settlement in New Iceland.
