Björn was the son of Ólafur Oddsson and Kristbjörg Antoníusardóttir who lived at Fagraskógi in New Iceland, while Þuríður’s parents were Jóhannes Jónasson and Halla Jónsdóttir who came west in 1876 and lived at Jaðri in the Fljóts Settlement. Björn and Þuríður lived for awhile in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but by 1911 they were living the Víðir Settlement. They later lived in various places in Saskatchewan before moving west to Vancouver.
