They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 and settled in the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota. Traveling with them was Þóra Jónsdóttir, Jón’s sister. They moved from there to Roseau, Minnesota in 1898. In 1906, they moved to New Iceland and settled by Íslendingafljót. They called their land Skálholt.
