Hólmfríður Jónasdóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on June 10, 1879.
Spouse: September 27, 1898 Rögnvaldur Pétursson b. in Skagafjarðarsýsla on August 14, 1877, d. January 30, 1940.
Children: 1. Þorvaldur b. July 10, 1904 2. Margrét b. July 13, 1906 3. Ólafur died in childhood 4. Ólafur b. April 22, 1914 5. Pétur Jónas b. October 28, 1923.
Hólmfríður came west with her parents, Jónas Kristjánsson and Guðrún Þorsteinsdóttir, in 1893; they settled in Pembina, N. Dakota. Rögnvaldur came west with his parents and siblings in 1883 to Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved from there that same year to Pembina, N. Dakota; they settled in Hallson. Rögnvaldur chose to pursue an education and studied at Wesley College in Winnipeg in 1896-1898. From there he went to Pennsylvania in the United States and studied theology at a seminary in Meadville 1898-1902 and then at Harvard University 1902-1903. That year he was ordained as a pastor and served at First Icelandic Unitarian Congregation in Winnipeg 1903-1909 and again 1915-1922.
