Guðný Sigríður Sumarliðadóttir was born in Húnavatnssýsla on June 17, 1875. She died on June 14, 1942 in Roseau County, Minnesota. She took the name Sarah Vik with her second marriage.
Spouse: 1) Erlendur Jónas Jóhannsson, they divorced 2) Jon Vik b. in Norway in 1866, d. in Roseau County, Minnesota in 1928.

Guðný was the daughter of Sumarliði Guðmundsson and Anna Hjálmarsdóttir, and sister of Bóli Hjálmarsson. She came west alone in the years 1895-97 and settled in Roseau County in Minnesota. She lived there the rest of her life.
