Hallfríður came west in 1876 with her widowed mother, Elín Magnúsdóttir, and siblings. They first lived in New Iceland, but moved to N. Dakota in 1881. Bogi came west to N. Dakota in 1885 but moved west to the Pacific early in 1891. She and Bogi settled in Seattle, Washington.
