Pétur came with his parents to New Iceland in 1876. They made their way to Hallson, N. Dakota in 1880. They bought land in the West-Sand Hill settlement in 1890, sold their land, and moved to Hensel. From there, the couple moved to Roseau, Minnesota in 1893, and then to the Pine Valley Settlement in Manitoba shortly before 1900. They moved to Winnipeg in 1910.
