Guðný Bjarnadóttir was born in Húnavatnssýsla in 1874.
Spouse: Sigurlaugur A Sigfússon b. 1870 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla. He was known as S. A. Sigfuson in the west.

Guðný came west to N. Dakota in 1883 with her parents, Bjarni Dagsson and Sigríður Eggertsdóttir, and first lived in the Fjalla Settlement. Sigurlaugur came west in 1876 with his parents, Sigfús Jónsson and Ingibjörg Árnadóttir, and siblings. They first lived in New Iceland, then moved on to the Thingvalla settlement in N. Dakota in 1880. Sigurlaugur and Guðný lived in the Thingvalla settlement with their daughters in 1900 but they then moved to the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and were living in Kandahar in 1904.
