Benedikt Jóelsson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on September 22, 1851. He died in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1917.
Spouse: November 26, 1881 Albína Þorsteinsdóttir b. March 7, 1857 in the same sýsla.
Children: 1. Þorgerður b. November 15, 1884 2. Kristín b. August 11, 1891. Both born in Akureyri.
They came west in 1905 and were first in Winnipeg. A year later they moved to the Narrows on Lake Manitoba. They were there until 1908 when they went west to Saskatchewan and settled near Foam Lake in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð). They lived there after that.
