They took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan. Sigurður took land in the Kandahar/Dafoe area. Sigurveig came west with her parents, Björn Erlendsson and Guðrún Jónsdóttir, at just a few months old, in 1887.
