Marteinn Pálsson was born in 1860 in S. Múlasýsla. He took the name Martin Paulson in the west.
He was the son of Páll Jónsson and his first wife, Vilborg Guðmundsdóttir. He came west with his father and his father’s family in 1876. He was with them during their years in Manitoba and moved with them to the Vallar Settlement in Saskatchewan in 1900.
