Rósa and Þorsteinn and children came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1899 and went west from there to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan. They were there for one year and then moved to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð). They were among the first settlers in the Foam Lake community.
