Ásbjörn Pálsson was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on May 31, 1884. He died on Vancouver Island, British Columbia on January 11, 1951.

Ásbjörn came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents in 1894 and was with them in the Geysir Settlement in New Iceland the first years. He took land near Wynyard in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan but did not live there long; he moved Elfros and ran a pharmacy. He later moved to Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
