Kristinn Brynjólfsson was born in Rosseau, Ontario. He was known as Kristinn B. Johnson or Chris Johnson in the west.
Kristinn moved from Rosseau with his parents, Brynjólfur Jónsson and his wife Guðrúnu Jónsdóttir, in 1884 to Mountain, N. Dakota. They lived there until 1904, but he moved to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan together with his parents and brother. He took land in the Wynyard settlement and lived there a long time. He then moved to White Rock, British Columbia.
