Guðmundur Sigurðsson was born in N. Þingeyjarsýsla on March 8, 1873. He took the name George Snidal in the west. He died in 1941.
Spouse: May 13, 1911 Ingunn Sigurðardóttir b. May 11, 1886 in Rangárvallasýsla, d. April 24, 1976.

He came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1902, moved to Hallson, N. Dakota, and then to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1905. He lived there until 1911, then moved to Winnipeg. Ingunn came there from Iceland in 1910. They lived in the city until 1914 and there Guðmundur worked in house construction. They moved to Port Clements on Queen Charlotte Island in British Columbia in 1914. They settled near the Icelandic community of Osland in 1919 and there Guðmundur opened a post office, calling it Árós. They moved from there in 1925 to Prince Rubert where Guðmundur worked in a canning factory.
