Björg Vilhelmína Jónsdóttir was born on November 8, 1884 in the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota. She died on January 15, 1939 in Wynyard, Saskatchewan.

Björg was the daughter of Jón Jónsson of Dalasýsla and Helga Ólafsdóttir, pioneer settlers in N. Dakota. Hallgrímur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1890 with his parents, Sigurjón Jónsson and Guðrún Jóhannesdóttir. Life’s road led the family to N. Dakota. Hallgrímur took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1905 and moved there in 1907. They were there 20 years and then moved to the village of Wynyard where they lived until 1954. He moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
