Kristrún came west to Winnipeg in 1890. Ólafur came with his mother, Sigríður Jónasdóttir, in 1889 to Winnipeg and from there to the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota. They moved to Winnipegosis, Manitoba in 1900 and then to Wynyard in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan. Kristrún was a midwife and practiced in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) the first years.
