Sesselja came west in 1886 with her parents, Oddur Magnússon and Margrét Ólafsdóttir. She met Halldór in N. Dakota, he had come west at one year old with his parents and siblings to Kinmount, Ontario in 1874. They took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1905 and lived there a few years. They moved their house in 1908 to Wynyard and lived there a long time. She later moved west to Burnaby, British Columbia.
