Björn Björnsson was born in Húnavatnssýsla on September 30, 1885. He died in Vancouver in 1969. He took the name Bjorn Bjornson in the west.
Spouse: Kristjana Rakel Sveinsdóttir b. May 18, 1888, d. 1971. She took the name Lella Sveinson in the west.

Björn was the son of Anna Sæmundsdóttir and Björn Sigvaldason. He emigrated to Winnipeg in 1887 with his mother. He took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1904. He sold his land and went into business. He worked in carpentry for years, e.g., building a magnificent house in the village of Dafoe in 1917, where he ran a hardware store with Finnbogi Sanders. They later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia.
