Kristinn came west with his mother, Sigríður Þórðardóttir, and stepfather, Björn Guðnason in 1898. They settled in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1906. Ingveldur came west with her father, Sveinbjörn Sveinbjörnsson, to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1911.
