Elín Björg Jónsdóttir was born in 1881 in S. Múlasýsla. She died on October 15, 1971 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Elín and Sigbjörn lived at Steinholt in S. Múlasýsla in 1901 as did Elín’s parents and Sigbjörn’s father. Two years later, in 1903, Sigbjörn and Elín came west to Canada, while Elín’s parents and siblings moved from Búðir in Fáskrúðsfjarðarhreppur west to Canada in 1905. At the age of 14, Ingvar came with his father’s brother and his family west to Winnipeg in Manitoba in 1887. They moved west to the Þingvalla Settlement and Ingvar was there for the next two years. After that, he either worked for farmers in various places or fished. He settled in Foam Lake in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in 1903 and farmed, but also ran a shop in Wadena. Later, he moved to the Kandahar/Dafoe area, bought land there, and built a house.
