Guðný Sólmundardóttir was born in Mikley in New Iceland on September 16, 1890.
Spouse: 1912 Hákon Jónasson b. December 24, 1885 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He took the name Hakon Kristjanson in the west.

Guðný was the daughter of Sólmundur Símonarson and Guðrún Aradóttir, pioneer settlers in Mikley. Hákon came west with his parents, Jónas Kristjánsson and Guðrún Þorsteinsdóttir, to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893 and from there on to N. Dakota. He lived in the Vallar Settlement (Gerald) in 1902 and in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1912. He bought land in the Kandahar/Dafoe area.
