They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 with their children Þuríður and Skúli. Þorbjörg was taken in as a foster child and sent west to the family in 1900. With them was Kristján Jónsson, the father of Ragnheiður and her sister Valgerður. They settled in the Pembina Settlement in N. Dakota. Kristján’s son Gunnar came west in 1876.
