Valdimar Jóhannes Ólafsson was born in the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota in 1893. He died in Morden, Manitoba in 1958. He had the nameWalter Olafson in the west.
Spouse: 1917 Jóhanna Sigurbjörg Pálsdóttir b. 1896 in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota. She had the name Hannah Olafson in the west.
Children: 1. Oliver 2. Sigrid (Sigga) b. 1919 3. Marvin b. 1922 4. Harold b. 1927 5. Margret b. 1930 6. Louis b. 1930, twin 7. Dolores b. 1933.
Valdimar was the son of Ólaf Árnason and Ragnheiður Ó. Sigurðardóttir who came west in 1887 and settled in the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota. Valdimar moved with them to the Brown Settlement in Manitoba in 1899. In 1917, Valdimar took land in the community and there he and Jóhanna lived until 1957. They then moved to Morden, Manitoba.
