Jón Sigfússon was born in S. Múlasýsla on October 2, 1862. He died on August 5, 1936 in the Lundar Settlement. He took the name John Sigfusson in the west.
Spouse: 1884 Anna Sofía Kristjánsdóttir b. in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on November 28, 1854, d. February 22, 1944.
Children: 1. Kristjana d. February 24, 1922 2. Júlíana b. July 3, 1887, d. May 1, 1957 3. Skúli b. January 22, 1889 4. Jóhanna 5. Ólöf.
Jón Sigfússon came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883. He used the next few years to look around and explore various locations. He then took land in the Lundar Settlement, near Grunnavatn in 1887 and is considered to be the first settler in the Settlement. They lived in the Lundar Settlement the rest of their lives.
