Björg came west to Winnipeg in 1885 with her parents, Jón Jónsson and Þorbjörg Guðmundsdóttir, and siblings. They settled in New Iceland and moved to the Lundar Settlement in 1902. Jon H. Johnson was the son of Jón Jónsson and Sigríður Jónsdóttir who lived at Grund in Mikley. Jon and Björg started farming there and also did fish sales at the harbor in Mikley. From there they went west to Vancouver.
