Björn Þorsteinsson was born in Dalasýsla on August 25, 1868. He took the last name Hördal in the west. He died in the Lundar Settlement on December 2, 1956.
Spouse: Sigríður Jónasdóttir b. in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on January 4, 1871, d. January 24, 1950.

Björn came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 with his parents, Þorsteinn Jónsson and Ragnhildur Jónsdóttir, in 1876. They first lived in New Iceland, but moved about 1880 to N. Dakota. There Sigríður Jónasdóttir arrived with her parents, Jónas Halldórsson and Jóhanna Jónsdóttir, in 1878. Björn and Sigríður moved to the Lundar Settlement in 1891 and lived there for a few years, then moved to the town of Lundar.
