Children: With Guðný: 1. Lárus Jóhann b. 1883. Guðný had a daughter, Málfríður Ólafsdóttir, who came west with them. Þorkell had three children with Ingibjörg, one died young.
Þorkell and Guðný came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887. They lived for three years in the city, but in 1890 they moved to the Lögberg Settlement in Saskatchewan where Þorkell took land and bought more. Ingibjörg was the daughter of Gunnar Gunnarsson and Ingveldur Eyjólfsdóttir.
