Jóhann Guðmundsson was born in Strandasýsla on May 23, 1845. He died in Victoria on April 29, 1922. He took the last name Breiðfjörð in the west.
Spouse: 1) Guðrún Þórðardóttir b. January 5, 1842, d. in New Iceland in 1877 2) 1880 Anna Sigurðardóttir b. 1866 in W. Skaftafellssýsla.
Children: With Anna: 1. Sigríður 2. Sigurlína Valgerður 3. Árni Sigurður b. 1888, d. in an accident in Prince Rupert on October 1, 1909. They also lost a daughter in N. Dakota.
Jóhann and Guðrún came west to New Iceland in 1877. Anna came west to New Iceland in 1876 with her brother Sigurður and his family. From there, Jóhann moved to N. Dakota and first lived in the Akra Settlement, but then moved to the Mouse River Settlement in 1886. They moved west from there in 1888 to the Pacific and lived thereafter in Victoria, British Columba.
