Ingibjörg was the daughter of Árni Sveinsson and Guðrún H. Jónsdóttir from Fáskrúðsfjörður who came west in 1876. Halldór came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887 with his parents, Eggert Jónsson and Sigríður Jónsdóttir, and siblings. They were first in New Iceland, then six years in Winnipeg, and from there to the Narrows on Lake Manitoba.
