Gísli came west in 1888 and settled in the Garðar Settlement while Ingibjörg arrived there a year later. She married Eiríkur Hjálmarsson in 1891 but he died six months later. Gísli and Ingibjörg moved west as newlyweds to the Pacific in 1902 and lived in a number of places but ended up in Blaine, Washington.
