Steinþór Vigfússon was born in Snæfellsnessýsla on October 21, 1881. He died in Winnipeg in 1935.
Unmarried and childless.
Steinþór came west with his parents, Vigfús Jónsson and Guðrún Jóhannesdóttir, in 1887. They first lived in Winnipeg then moved to Mikley in 1891 and lived there until 1903. They then settled in the Lundar Settlement. Steinþór attended the Agricultural School of Manitoba and worked in agriculture in the Lundar Settlement. He bought, together with Jóhann Magnússon, the first tractor in the area in 1912, and together they worked on a special type of plow that was well suited to shrubby land. He later moved to Winnipeg.
