Jón Jóhannsson was born in Dalasýsla on July 26, 1867. He died in Saskatchewan on June 16, 1938. He took the name John Borgford in the west.
Spouse: Jósefína Marta Bjarnadóttir b. August 7, 1865 in Snæfellsnessýsla, d. October 24, 1951. She took the name Martha Borgford in the west.

Jón came west to Manitoba in 1876 with his parents, Jóhann Jóhannesson and Málfríður Jónsdóttir. They settled in New Iceland, but moved to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan after the turn of the century. Jósefína came west to Manitoba in 1881. Jón lived with his parents in New Iceland, but in 1906 he lived in Humboldt, Saskatchewan with his wife and children. They moved east from there to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) and settled east of Elfros.
