Sigrún came west to Manitoba in 1882 with her parents, Kristján Sigurðsson and Jóhanna Bjarnadóttir. They first settled in the Argyle Settlement, but then moved west to Alberta in 1901. Jón Andrés came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887 with his mother Guðrún Jónsdóttir and her future husband, Torfi Sveinsson from Dalasýsla. He moved with them to the Argyle Settlement, but in 1901 he moved west to Alberta, settling just north of Markerville. He lived there the rest of his life.
