Jónas Daníelsson was born in Dalasýsla on August 12, 1838. He died in Manitoba on June 6, 1930.

Jónas came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888 and traveled on to Akra, N. Dakota. From there he moved to Mouse River a few years later and lived there eight years. In 1901, he moved north to the Swan River Valley Settlement (Álftárdalsbyggð) in Manitoba and lived there after that.
