Júlíus came west in 1888 with his parents, Ingimundur Guðmundsson and Sólborg Guðmundsdóttir. They settled in the Shoal Lake Settlement (Grunnavatnsbyggð) where they lived a long time before moving to Lundar. Júlíus settled in Oak Point and lived there until 1926, then moved to Winnipeg.
