She came west in 1886 with her parents, Daði Þorleifsson and Kristín Eiríksdóttir, and siblings. They settled in N. Dakota and lived there until 1899. When Daði died, the widow moved north to the Árdals Settlement with her daughter, Steinunn. It is likely that Kristín went north with them.
