Kristín came west in 1876 with her parents, Jón Þórðarson and Guðrún Jónasdóttir. They settled in the Argyle Settlement and there Kristín grew up. She was a teacher when she married. Pétur came west to Canada in 1889. He began farming in the Argyle Settlement and lived there until 1907. Life’s road led them to Belmont, and after four years, from there to Glenboro and lastly to Winnipeg. They lived there until their deaths.
